Disney Vampirina DVD (Daynah’s Review)

Disney Vampirina

Halloween is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate than with the family-friendly all-new  DVD with the release of Vampirina! Vampirina, also known as Vee to her friends, is the new girl in town when her family moves from Transylvania to Pennsylvania. She is going to be super busy making new friends, music videos, having adventures, and throwing spectacular sleep overs!

This new series is packed with laughs, new characters to cherish, and love! The DVD includes four episodes.

Episodes

  • Going Batty / Scare B&B – Vampirina gets a case of the battys while meeting humans. Everytime she gets nervous, she changes into a bat unwillingly. This is not good since some of her Human friends may be screamy at times. Oxana, Vee’s mother, opens Her New Scare B&B, but both a Human and Vampires guests arrive at the same time, and there is only one room. How do they get out of this pickle?
  • The Sleepover / Portrait of a Vampire – Vampirina invites her new friends, Poppy and Bridget for a Sleepover. Vampirina gets the battys when taking a class photo for Mr. Gore.
  • Vee’s Surprise Party / Vee Goes Viral – Vampirina and Poppy prepare for a ‘surprise’ party.   After Gregoria teaches Vampirina and Poppy a new dance, Edgar makes a video and it goes viral.
  • The Plant Predicament / Mummy Mayhem – While Demi tries to help Vampirina and Poppy cure a spell, Oxana tries to distract Edna. Vampirina, Poppy, and Bridget try to make King Peppy feel better because all the visitors want to see are dinos.

Daughter’s Reaction

My 5-year-old daughter was really excited when I introduced this new Disney series to her. She enjoyed all the spooky characters because they were adorable and definitely more on the cute side than creepy.  Although Vamparina is different in many ways, my daughter thought that she had a lot in common with her and could relate so much to this character.

Overview

I really enjoyed watching this new Disney series with my 5-year-old daughter. She just started Kindergarten at a new school so making new friends has been difficult. For her to see that Vamparina was having a tough time adapting and making friends as well, let her know that she is not alone in this process.

No matter how different these characters are, they still want and desire the same things that we do — to be loved, have friendships, and to be accepted for themselves. Also, learning to embrace your own unique individuality and others is great lesson from the show. I love these continuous themes in the show and would recommend it for families of little ones.
