Book Review: Entertaining with Disney

Entertaining with DisneyDisney is definitely not just for the kids! The Disney magic and spirit transcends age, delighting the littlest ones to the most sophisticated adults. There is one thing that adults love to do, and that is to entertain. So what happens when the glittering world of entertaining meets the enchanting world of Disney? A book called “Entertaining with Disney” is born!

Amy Croushorn is a party stylist, photographer, and former interior designer and now, the author of “Entertaining with Disney!” This book is full of beautiful inspiration and lovely images from cover to cover. You can definitely see how much attention to detail she puts into this book, just like she does with her parties! This book is packed with delicious recipes, crafty decorations, fun activities and inspiration on every page. “Entertaining with Disney” is the perfect book to help plan and host delightful parties with a hint of Disney magic.

The book is divided into 11 exceptional party plans based on classic Disney characters with amazing details that will dazzle your guests. Each of these chapters are divided into three main sections:

  • For the Menu – Food is the foundation of every party, so this section includes recipes and ideas for food and drinks to serve at the party. Some of the ideas are quick and easy, while others will put your culinary skills on display.
  • For the Space – What’s a party without customized decorations? So get our your scissors and glue sticks, it’s crafting time! This section is full of DIY projects for the room and table décor. There will be inspiration for things like centerpieces, posters, place settings, and more!
  • For Fun – Every unique party should include something special just for fun. Depending on the type of party, it could be a game, activity, playlist, favor, or invitation.

In additional to these three sections, each chapter also comes with a guide to putting it all together, which is something I greatly appreciate. When I plan parties, I need a to create a checklist and to organize my time so I know what to do and when to do it. This can get overwhelming when time is ticking away. This last section of each chapter helps wraps up the party plan and tells you what to do starting from two weeks ahead of the party, going right up to the first guests arriving. Each portion of this timeline lists which tasks you need to focus on. This helpful timeline makes even the least-experienced party planners easily pull everything together without missing a detail!

From birthdays to barbecues, bridal showers to baby showers, brunch parties to backyard soirees, this book features parties inspired by Cinderella, The Lion King, Alice in Wonderland, Mickey Mouse, the Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Princess and the Frog, Moana, Peter Pan, Disney Villains, and Frozen. Of all the beautiful ideas in Entertaining with Disney, my favorite was the very romantic “The Little Mermaid Bridal Shower Brunch.” The party color palette was sparkling and elegant that would surprise any bride-to-be. The wonderful thing about this book is that it is so creative that it will inspire many more ideas.  Another thing that I love about this book is all the lovely close-up photos of the food and decorations, as well as the whimsical images of my favorite Disney characters scattered throughout the pages.

So, are you ready to party? Let’s make some beautiful Disney party magic happen!
