Marvel Avengers: Age of Ultron On DisneyMoviesAnywhere Now & Home Video 10/2 (Jason’s 1st Impressions)
The summer 2015 Marvel blockbuster has arrived on DisneyMoviesAnywhere and will be released on Blu-ray on October 2. It seems as if everyone on the planet has seen the film already, so not sure I need to rehash a review of the film. If you are curious on learning more about the movie our contributor Teri attended the press conference and filed this report back in April.
This time around I was sent the Digital Version of the movie. This came packaged as a small postcard with a credit card size card inside featuring the DisneyMoviesAnywhere code (pictured below). I logged into the website, entered the code and the film was added to my library. I poked around some of the bonus features on my computer then moved to a large TV to watch the film using Chromecast.
This was the first film I have watched this way and it was no problem at all. The quality for my untrained eye looked on par with the Blu-ray except for a couple of hiccups due to the wi-fi in our house where it had skipped to re-buffer but overall no issues.
The bonus features available on through DisneyMoviesAnywhere mirrored those of the Blu-ray release and contained one exclusive bonus feature – Marvel’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron – Connecting The Universe which was a nearly 5 minute piece looking at the connections within the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.
I was impressed with the amount of bonus material available with this release compared to other recent releases. There were 5 bonus/deleted scenes, a 3 minute piece on the global locations used in the film, a nearly 21 minute making of feature, and an over 7 minute one on the infinite six explaining more about the infinity stones.
Since DisneyMoviesAnywhere was launched I have used it as a supplemental to my movie collection. There is still something about having a physical product that I like. Even though most sit on a shelf or in a box I still like knowing it is there.. as evidence my VHS, DVD and now Blu-Ray collections that collect a lot of dust. What I have found with recent releases is I tend to watch the film from the disc but tend to go click through the bonus material on DisneyMoviesAnywhere since it seems more efficient vs waiting for the Blu-ray player.
