Thank You Veterans – Disneyland Resort Flag Retreat (Videos)

Thank you to all our Veterans today. The Disneyland Resort (and Walt Disney World) hold nightly flag retreats in Town Square on Main Street USA at sunset. The time changes throughout the year so be sure to check the park times guide or ask a cast member for the ceremony time if you want to catch it on your next visit. On Veterans Day (as well as other special occasions throughout the year) the regular ceremony is expanded and guest groups join in. For Veterans day usually a military band is part of the event and they honor cast members who are Veterans.

Last year the Los Angeles Daily News ran a story on Earnie Napper who is a Disneyland Security Cast Member who has a special connection to the ceremony. Click here to read their story.

For a brief time Disney California Adventure had a retreat, they no longer do this, the flag is lit and stays up all the time.

The flag retreat ceremony honors veterans and active duty personnel throughout the year. Here is a video of a special Flag Retreat Ceremony at Disneyland honoring Medal of Honor recipient U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Salvatore Giunta and Silver Star recipient U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Erick Gallardo from Wednesday, January 12, 2011 –
