Walt Disney Animation Studios Shorts Collection now on Digital HD/Disney Movies Anywhere & Blu-ray (Jason’s 1st Impressions)
When I first heard about this new collection of Disney Animated Shorts I was excited. In addition to some great pieces I was hoping for some interesting bonus material on them to learn more about their creation, release, etc.. The first half was delivered with a great collection of Disney Shorts all in one set. But unfortunately the bonus material fell short of my expectations. The set contains one bonus feature that talks with some of the film makers on the creation of a short vs a feature, it is very superficial though. There is also a brief introduction for each short by a creator. My being a geek, I know each short has an interesting history of how it came to be and I would have liked to have learned more than couple minute intro. I would have liked to have seen full pieces on each.
Having all 12 of these on a single collection in a high definition format is great though. I think there are several on here that most of us missed in their theatrical run or other outlet where they were released so this helps to fill in the “gaps”. There are a couple in the set that I had missed and this brought them to the forefront for me. And all you Frozen Fans it has the Frozen Fever short so be sure to check out the other 11 shorts.
The shorts included on this disc, stack up to a cumulative running time just under 80 minutes. Here is a listing including when they were released and how for most of them:
