Feminist Baby by Loryn Brantz – Book Review by Daynah
Feminist Baby does what she wants to do, whether it is dressing up in pink or blue. She is not afraid of showing her wild side and if you do not like it, she does not care. This clever board book is hilarious and teaches young girls that they should not need to do things to please anyone else, other than themselves. There is also no need to conform to society’s expectations when you have an imagination as vivid as this little baby. Why blend in when you are meant to stand out?
Overview
I enjoyed this book, especially for the funny illustrations. I liked how it lightly touched on feminist topics and expectations of what girls should like. Raising two young girls myself, I thought this book would help them in their journey of growing up.
Daughters’ Reactions
My 5-year-old daughter loved this book so much, she asked me to read it five times in a row. The illustrations kept her laughing and it was enjoyable to see her so happy. My 11-month old daughter like it too as she would not stop trying to take a bite out of the book. Thank goodness for the thicker pages!
