Shanghai Disney Resort Inspires Environmental Awareness with Nature Exploration Activities
Resort is transformed into a nature classroom during the spring season, celebrating Disney Earth Month with brand new conservation-themed activities

Shanghai, April 2, 2018 – Shanghai Disney Resort kicked off its Disney Earth Month celebration this year by introducing a series of nature and conservation themed activities throughout the resort, turning the resort into a nature classroom for children and their parents. From today through April 22, guests visiting Shanghai Disney Resort can discover multiple “Celebrate Earth” activities in Shanghai Disneyland, Disneytown, the resort hotels, and Wishing Star Park, the living ecosystem located adjacent to the theme park.

As a highlight of this year’s Earth Month, Shanghai Disneyland launched the brand new “Nature Exploration” program in one of the park’s themed lands – Gardens of Imagination, which has been transformed into a floral fantasy world as the warm weather spreads across the city. While parents and young children are enjoying the beauty of flowers, flowering trees, shrubs and perennials blooming throughout the themed land, they are also invited to explore nature by themselves through searching for butterflies, learning about plants, and sharing ideas about protecting the environment. Nature Exploration Guides are available from Cast Members in this themed land to aid guests in their nature journey, and through which young guests will learn how to care about animals, nature and the environment through the actions they take each day. Guests who successfully complete the exploration mission will also have an opportunity to be chosen as the grand marshal for the park’s fun-filled parade, Mickey’s Storybook Express.

After its successful premiere at Shanghai Disneyland last year, “Xiao Tui,” the magical talking recycle bin, will return to the theme park this April, talking about conservation with guests and encouraging everyone to take action, including how they can make small changes in their lives to help protect the environment and get connected with nature.

Guests will also discover a wide range of spring and nature-themed interactive activities at Disneytown and Wishing Star Park. From April 13 to 22, a “Celebrate Earth Spring Carnival” will be held at Disneytown, featuring a series of fun and engaging environmental activities, under multiple unique themes, such as low carbon actions and animal and habitat conservation efforts. The activities at Disneytown will be jointly hosted by Shanghai Disney Resort together with its environmental protection friends, including the Shanghai International Resort, Shendi Group, Shanghai Metro, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) China, Shanghai Roots & Shoots, WildAid, and China Blue. This year’s Outstanding Ranger Team from WWF China’s 2018 Tiger Habitat Ranger Competition will also pay a special visit to Disneytown on April 16 and share the importance of protecting wild tigers in China. During this period, a Springtime Lawn Party will also be hosted on weekends where families and friends of all ages can come together and get connected to nature.

At the end of their guided tour, guests can even have the chance to pot plants which they can take home. Guests can subscribe to the Disneytown WeChat account for more information and to sign up at no cost.

What’s more, guests staying at the resort hotels will have the chance to experience nature-friendly additions to their stays, including environmentally themed activities in the children’s play room at Toy Story Hotel, and a refreshing morning nature walk around the flora-and-fauna-rich Wishing Star Park adjacent to Shanghai Disneyland Hotel.
