Recent Disney News Round-Up
There has been a lot of Disney news the past couple of weeks. Here is a quick post with some of the highlights in case you missed any or are just looking for a summary:
Walt Disney Company News:
- On April 11th Disney held an Investor’s Day on the lot in Burbank to share details about the upcoming Disney+ service. The headline news from the event is it will launch on November 12th and initally be $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year. - Walt Disney Co. Stock has been on a run since the announcement. On 4/11 the stock closed at $116.60. On Friday the 26th it closed at $139.92 (for current pricing and info here is the Disney Investor Relations Site Homepage
Disneyland Resort News:
- 4/26 – Mickey’s PhilharMagic opens in Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure (Disney Parks Blog)
- 4/26 – Pop-Up Disney! Opens in former ESPN Zone Building in Downtown Disney (Disney Parks Blog)
- 4/26 – Black Tap Craft Burgers and Shakes Opening at Downtown Disney any day
- 4/24 – Mickey’s Mix Magic final performance will be June 6th, Disneyland Forever returns on June 7th (Disney Parks Blog)
- 4/22 – Reservation information for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be available May 2nd at 8am PST and registration will begin at 10am PST (Disney Parks Blog)
- 4/19 – Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be opening in Toontown in 2022, this attraction will be added to the current line up and built using backstage space (Disney Parks Blog)
- 4/19 – A sneak peak and an exhibit featuring concept art, props, and costumes from the upcoming Disney’s Aladdin live action film opened at the Disney Gallery / Disney Opera House (My Pictures)
- 4/17 – Halloween Parties will move to Disney California Adventure this year and include a new World of Color Show (Press Release)

- 4/26 – New Fireworks show for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year (Disney Parks Blog)
- 4/22 – An updated Rivers of Light: We Are One will debut Memorial Day weekend at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the show will feature Disneynature clips as well as classic moments from Disney Animated Films (Disney Parks Blog)
- 4/17 – Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios now has a spring 2020 opening date (Disney Parks Blog)
- 4/9 – Announced Illuminations – Reflections of Earth’s final show will be September 30 and the debut of Epcot Forever will be on October 1st (Press Release)
