DisneylandForward Effort Announced
Today Disneyland Resort announced a multiyear public planning effort with the City of Anaheim to update existing development approvals called DisneylandForward. A new website https://disneylandforward.com launched with information on the resort history, current state and future ideas. Disney is seeking more flexibility in how they can use their existing property. They are asking for changes/updates to the existing agreement from the mid 90s that set the foundation for the Disneyland Resort expansion. The original agreement set up separates districts/zones for themeparks, hotels, parking, and future expansion. Below are two graphics Disneyland posted showing what was originally approved and where the resort is today.
The site then goes on to provided a look at some possibilities. They illustrate this in a map and concept artwork. The site notes that these graphics are for illustrative purposes only.
The DisneylandForward website provides some concepts of how the land could potentially be used. They illustrate this by using projects they have done at other resorts/parks around the world, for example how Tokyo is expanding both of their parks with large immersive lands utilizing space adjacent to the existing parks.
