Review – Disneyland: Pop-Up Park Tour

Disneyland: Pop-Up Park TourDisneyland Pop-Up Tour  by Matthew Reinhart, written by Charlie Price and illustrated by Rui Ricardo is a creative depiction of the Happiest Place on Earth.   The pop-up features representations of all the lands –  Main Street USA, Fantasyland, Mickey’s Toontown, Tomorrowland, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, New Orleans Square, Frontierland, Adventureland and Critter/Bayou Country.       When you open the book there is a main pop up and then three additional foldouts.   Also included is an “Insider’s Guide” which is a small booklet with some information/factoids about each of the over two dozen landmarks.

The book measures ten by twelve inches so when you fold it open you have an approximately 20 in spread plus the three extensions/pop outs.  The publisher shared this video taking a look at the pop-up park tour –

One interesting geek note is Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is featured with the water tower but it looks more like Splash Mountain and is labeled as Critter Country, not Bayou Country.

I found this pop-up to be a fun way to look at the park.   I enjoyed working my way around to see what was chosen and how each item was created.  I found the Insider’s Guide booklet to be a fun little read too, there was nothing new but a solid collection of trivia and details.   As with other pop-ups these are more works of art than durable book so take that into consideration before buying one for children.   If you are looking for something different for a disneygeek on your shopping list this may be an interesting choice to explore.
