Book Review: Frozen 2: Dangerous Secrets – The Story of Iduna and Agnarr

Frozen 2: Dangerous Secrets: The Story of Iduna and Agnarr explores the story of how Anna & Elsa’s parents met and how their relationship evolved.   The book covers the time period of just before the midst envelops the Enchanted Forest through the final moments before their ship wreck.

If you are looking for Olaf, Sven, and others from the film you will be a disappointed.  The book does include some moments with Anna and Elsa as children and some of the events of the first film, but from their parent’s perspective this time.  The Rock Trolls are introduced and a little more about their connection to the family history is discussed too.

The story is told from both Iduna and Agnarr’s points of view. This is done by each chapter being written from one of their perspectives and the chapter title telling you who it was for that chapter.  At times the book does seem to bend into what I would best describe as a tween romance novel.  Feeling, thoughts, and their relationship is explored throughout.  The book seems to fit right into the wheel house of those that around 5-10 years old when the first film was released in 2013 and now would be in their tween and teen years.  The recommended reading level for this book is grades 7-12.

Frozen 2: Dangerous Secrets: The Story of Iduna and Agnarr will be an enjoyable read for all you Frozen fans out there.   If you want to spend more time in the world of Arendelle learning about the history and filling in some of the blanks in the story you will most likely enjoy this book.
