I was able to get a preview of the 2013 D23 Expo this evening. We were able to tour the Parks & Resorts Journey into Imagineering Pavilion as well as Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives. I posted some pictures from the event as I walked around earlier this evening (scroll back to older postings). I will post a full update after the weekend, but wanted to give you my first impressions.
I think the Imagineering area is going to be a highlight of the Expo again. They give you a virtual tour of Imagineering covering many of the key areas and the Imagineers working the pavilion are more than happy to share their stories with you, just as years past. There are some hints at upcoming projects, namely Avatar Land and Star Wars stuff, also present was a model of Disney Springs. But a majority of the space is devoted to telling the story of Imagineering.
Here is a clip of the Introduction to the Journey into Imagineering Pavilion.
A quick clip of the Show Animation area of the Journey into Imagineering Pavilion
The Hat Box Ghost in the clip above was created just for the Expo.
A not to be missed area is the Art Library. Inside are several pieces of Disneyland Historical Art that are incredible (no pictures allowed though).
Welcome from Disneyland Resort President Michael Colglazier
The Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives exhibit highlights this year include the Harrods Gowns, Once Upon a Time, Oz the Great and Powerful, Teen Beach Movie and the finale is a tribute to Mary Poppins to celebrate its 50th Anniversary.
