6 has a problem. Everyone knows that 7 is always after him. Word on the street is that 7 ate 9. If that is true, 6’s days are numbered. Lucky for him, Private I is on the case. But the facts just do not add up. It is odd. Will Private I put two and two together and solve the problem . . . or is 6 next in line to be subtracted?
My five-year-old daughter wanted me to read this book to her many, many times.. and I gladly obliged. We would laugh and catch something new each time. Each page is beautifully illustrated and solving the mystery is in the details! She loved looking around on each page to see if she could figure out what happened to 9.
“7 ate 9” is a picture book filled with clever math puns on every page turn. Kids and adults will get a kick out of the story and anticipate what happens next. There are hidden meanings on every page through words and illustrations. This picture books belongs on every child’s bookshelf!
I love that this book teaches children how fun counting and numbers can be. And the play on the word “ate” and “eight” just keeps them laughing. Overall, this book is humorous and fun for both kids and adults. I would highly recommend it.
