The 2018 Disneyland Resort All-America College Band started performing in the park on Thursday 6/14. The band consists of top college musicians from across the country who went through a competitive selection process in order to participate in the program. The students go to seminars and sessions during the day and perform in the park throughout the summer. This year the band has a later schedule and no weekend performances most weeks. Another change is they are led by the TA for most performances. Ron is no longer with the band.
Set Times & Locations for 2018, Monday – Friday most weeks:
- 5:00pm – Flag Retreat in Town Square
- 6:45pm – Sleeping Beauty Castle
- 7:45pm – The Royal Theatre
- 8:40pm & 9:55pm – Town Square
Meet the members of the 2018 Disneyland All-American College Band –
5:00pm – Flag Retreat – The band starts their performances taking part in the traditional Flag Retreat in Town Square. They march down Main Street USA where they encircle the flag pole in Town Square. Once in position they perform several patriotic songs and are joined by the Dapper Dans of Disneyland as well as the security honor guard. Songs include Yankee Doodle Dandy, You’re a Grand Old Flag, America the Beautiful, Armed Forces Medley, Star Spangled Banner, Stars and Stripes Forever, and God Bless America.
6:45pm – Sleeping Beauty Castle – The Band arrives in front of the Castle and performs an assortment of songs including: A Dream is a Wish your Hearts Makes, Under the Sea, Moana Medley, Incredibles, Life is a Highway, and Disneyland attraction medley to close out the set.
7:45pm – The Royal Theatre – This is usually a traditional Jazz set and includes guest performers on select nights. The set can vary based on the performer.
8:40pm & 9:55pm Town Square – These sets seem a little in flux on sequence and content. The first Friday The band marches in playing Goin’ Down the Bayou. The set also includes When You Wish Upon a Star, Tower of Power Medley, Pixar Medley during the 8:40pm set.
The 9:55pm set the first week featured the band marching in and sets up on the Train Station steps. This is their traditional closing set. It opens with Bubbles Was a Cheerleader and they move down to the street and perform Uptown Funk, Michael Jackson Medley and they close with their Earth, Wind, and Fire Tribute.
The second week though the 9:55pm set included most of the 8:40pm set from the first week plus If I Didn’t Have You from Monsters Inc.
