Book Review: I Love My Teacher

Due to the on-going pandemic, I have my two daughters (ages 4 & 8 years old) at home, doing distance learning combined with homeschooling while I am balancing working from home. We enjoy discovering new books to read and discuss. I have received several Disney Books from my Fall Homeschool Reading List and will be sharing reviews of them. Here is my Fall 2020 Children’s Disney Book list.

I Love My Teacher“Quick, let’s go! It’s time for school!
My teachers there are pretty cool.”

I Love My Teacher is a book about a fun and joyful day at school and how the teacher makes a huge difference in a child’s life.

Daughter’s Reaction

This story resonated with my 4-year-old daughter and her face lit up as we read the story together. As we flipped through the book, I would ask her about the pictures and she would excitedly comment about it. For instance, she said she had a place to hang up her jacket, played with her friends with toys, and also had share time with her classmates. She especially liked that I referred to the teacher as Mrs. Rosie, which is the name of her teacher at school. This book did make her miss all the things she use to do at school before the pandemic.

Overview

I Love My Teacher is such a joy to read. I liked how the story rhymed and accurately depicted a child’s normal daily routine at a pre-school. From getting dropped off at school, first greeting of their teacher, playing with their friends, and learning new things. The story is easy to understand and resonates with children who are familiar with the routine at school. Each page is full of bright colorful images that will inspire and activate your child’s thinking and reading comprehension. I enjoyed this book as it is full of energy and enthusiasm. This book would make a nice gift for a young child who would ultimately want to share it with their favorite teacher.

Written by Giles Andreae and Illustrated by Emma Dodd, I Love My Teacher has 32 pages of delightful pictures and is an appropriate for ages 3 – 5.
