As you travel across the galaxy, be sure to have your Millennium Falcon touchdown on Batuu to join the Life Day celebrations that started at Disneyland on November 17th, 2023. This special holiday is a Wookiee tradition that celebrates family, joy, and harmony. These are values that Wookies hold dear in their hearts and culture. Life Day has grown to be observed throughout the galaxy, surpassing the Mytaranor sector of the Mid Rim.
I enjoyed an evening stroll through Galaxy Edge and observed all the excitement built up from the planet’s inhabitants and visitors. Many wore the ankle-length red smocks that Wookies traditionally wore and carried around glowing Life Day orbs to commemorate the special day. My favorite part was seeing the sea of lightsabers light up every part of the planet. Chewbacca and Rey were in the crowd of Jedi and Sith and I was able to capture this amazing scene in celebration of Life Day.
Princess Leia Organa once said:
“This holiday is yours, but we all share with you the hope that this day brings us closer to freedom, and to harmony, and to peace. No matter how different we appear, we’re all the same in our struggle against the powers of evil and darkness. I hope that this day will always be a day of joy in which we can reconfirm our dedication and our courage. And more than anything else, our love for one another. This is the promise of the Tree of Life.” -Princess Leia Organa in The Star Wars Holiday Special
We hope you can stop by Batuu and join in celebrating this special tradition. Some Life Day offerings include special Star Wars-inspired apparel, merchandise, collectibles and more.
