Review: Mickey & Minnie 10 Classic Shorts Volume 1
Mickey & Minnie 10 Classic Shorts Volume 1 is now available on Blu-ray, DVD and digitally. This collection of classic Disney shorts is part of the ongoing Disney100 celebration this year. The offering includes ten shorts with a new introduction by Mickey and Minnie to each. These introductions are about 25-30 seconds in length during which the two mice reminisce about the adventure/event of the short that follows while a slide show with is played. For more technical specifications on here is the initial press release on the offering.
Here are the ten shorts included on this offering:
- Steamboat Willie (1928)
- Brave Little Tailor (1938)
- The Little Whirlwind (1941)
- Mickey’s Delayed Date (1947)
- On Ice (1935)
- Hawaiian Holiday (1937)
- Mouse Takes a Trip (1940)
- Figaro and Frankie (1947)
- Bath Day (1946)
- Thru the Mirror (1936)
I enjoyed watching these shorts but I found this release to be a missed opportunity. The short introductions are nice but I was really hoping for more. Longer introductions, a set up/tie in to the 100th anniversary of the company, or some type of featurette. I checked and as of today 8 of 10 of the shorts are available on Disney+, the two Figaro ones (Figaro and Frankie & Bath Day are not).
I also took a quick look at the MoviesAnywhere version and was really disappointed to find only a single play option. They did not have the option to jump to a particular short.
Mickey & Minnie 10 Classic Shorts Volume 1 is an entertaining collection of classic Disney shorts. If you are looking for 80 minutes of Disney Animation fun this is a solid offering to add to your library. If you are looking for any type of bonus material or information on the shorts you will not find it here.
