Review: The Mandalorian Season 1 & 2 Home Video Release

The Mandalorian season 1 and 2 are available on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD in steelbook collectors cases. Each season set includes two discs and three collectors cards in the case.    All episodes from each season are included plus a couple of bonus features on the second disc.

The bonus features description:

Season One:

  • Remnants of the Empire (5:46) – Uncover the imperial designs adapted for the series and meet new villains as the Empire’s threat persists.
  • Forging the Covert: Part One (10:35) – Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and the crew highlight the craftsmanship behind Grogu, The Mandalorian’s arsenal, and the show’s practical effects and digital wizardry.

Season Two:

  • Designing the New Republic (4:46) – Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and the crew talk about the New Republic’s evolution and aesthetic in this story-rich period of the Star Wars timeline.
  • Forging the Covert: Part Two (6:02) – Talented artists reveal their inspiration and the designs of the warriors and their weaponry as the legend of the Mandalore expands.

The bonus features included in this offering were well done and interesting to watch. Some parts felt as if they overlapped with the Disney Gallery shows on the making of the series but were still interesting to watch.  I was disappointed in how short and few the offerings were.   Under 30 minutes total between the two sets.

If you are a Mandalorian or Star Wars Fan and are looking for more physical discs for your library these Steelbook offerings may be worth considering. Or if you are not a Disney+ subscriber and want to see the series.  If you are looking to learn more about the series the bonus features will most likely disappoint you.
