New Vinylmation Series debuts at the Disney Store this Friday
This upcoming Friday, July 22, the Disney Store will be releasing a new line of Vinylmation figures designed exclusively by Disney Store artists and sold only at the Disney Store and disneystore.com. This series titled Vinylmation Robots features twelve 3” robots and three 9” ones as well as six Pop! vinyls designed by five different artists. Click here to learn more about the artists.
About Vinylmation
For those that are not familiar Vinylmation (a combination of “Animation” and “Vinyl”) is a figure whose shape resembles that of Mickey Mouse but artists express their creativity on this three dimensional canvas. The figures were first developed in mid- July 2008 and initially released as blank create your figures in November 2008 at the Festival of the Masters event at Walt Disney Worlds Downtown Disney. The first series, titled Park #1 was released on December 18, 2008 at Walt Disney World. Since then the collection and trading of these figures has taken off with them showing up in many stores around the parks as well as the Disney Store.
Many of the 3” editions come in a closed box where you will not know which figure you get until you open the box (and the bag inside). Most sets include several known designs, pictured on the box as well as a mystery “Chaser” design. The open edition 3” designs in this new series retail for $9.95 and the 9” limited edition ones are $39.95 (the edition size is 700).
Contest
We are pleased to offer a contest with the Disney Store for a Vinylmation figure from this new series. Since Disneyland turned 56 this past Sunday and this new series features Robots we thought it would be fun to ask you to guess how many pictures do you think are in my photo archive of Tomorrowland @ Disneyland? (My archive consists of digital pictures I have taken at the park over the last 10 years or so, many of which find their way onto the site). Whoever guesses closest to the actual number of pictures in the archive wins the figure. To help you out I can tell you the number is higher than 1 and lower than 10,000. In the event of a tie, the person who submitted their guess first wins the prize.
The contest ended on 7/27/11. Thank you to all who entered…
