Nashville the Complete Second Season on DVD today

Nashville Season 2 DVD

Nashville’s second season DVD set is available today in advance of the third season premiering tomorrow night on ABC. This is a five disc set containing all 22 episodes from their sophomore season. The set also includes the Nashville: On the Record Music Special that featured performances at the Ryman Auditorium and discussions with the song writers. To round out the bonus features there is a short bloopers reel and a half dozen deleted scenes. On the technical side the format is Widescreen (1.78:1), Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles. The total running time for all episodes is 948 minutes. I scanned through the DVD set and if you purchase DVD sets for the bonus material to learn more about your favorite series you will be disappointed with this offering. The On the Record Music Special is the most interesting, but you probably already caught it when it aired on TV, if not it is an interesting special to see.

I thought they missed an opportunity to show more of the performances or talk more about the music with the bonus features. The extra bonus features were equally disappointing. Out of 22 episodes they came up with a blooper reel that is only a couple minutes long. The half dozen deleted scenes just seemed awkward to me. There was no description/introduction or anything. Just which episode they were shot for on a title card. So it seemed lacking to me., I would have liked to have seen more of a behind the scenes look or in depth look at some element of the shows production.
