Cars 3: Lead the Way – Book Review by Shelly

Cars 3: Lead the WayCars 3: Lead the Way by Ace Landers featuring illustrations by Garrett Taylor will take you and your kids on a journey with Lightning McQueen and some familiar Cars characters (Mater, Sally, Doc, and more)  plus some new friends from Cars 3.  Throughout the book Lightning revisits moments he shared with Doc Hudson and the life lessons learned during those.  He shares these with Cruz Ramirez.

I thought this book was great.  It offers parents a vehicle to assist in teaching your kids some real important lessons in life.  For example how to stay on track and that life is not always about being first but putting others first.  My 4-year-old daughter and I both loved the illustrations and we read it through twice as soon as it was delivered.  Disney has the target ages as 6-8, but my daughter found it engaging and was interested at age 4 so I think it could work for kids as young as 3 depending on how you read it with them.   Each page has only a few lines, but they manage to convey the important concept.   The illustrations come straight from movie scenes so if your child has seen any Cars movie, they should be able to put the “life lesson” together with the actual event from the movie. As a parent, I really appreciate what this story is teaching and how easily my daughter related to it through the familiar characters.   Also getting a preview of some of the new characters for Cars 3 has made us both excited to see the new film.
