Book Review: Royally Fierce

Due to the on-going pandemic, I have my two daughters (ages 4 & 8 years old) at home, doing distance learning combined with homeschooling while I am balancing working from home. We enjoy discovering new books to read and discuss. I have received several Disney Books from my Fall Homeschool Reading List and will be sharing reviews of them.  Here is my Fall 2020 Children’s Disney Book list.

Royally FierceRoyally Fierce is absolutely a fun and sassy book filled with feminist inspiration for girls, teens, and women who love the Disney Princesses! Each page is filled with gorgeous illustrations and inspirational dispatches befitting modern princesses. This is a unique gift book that Disney Princess fans will be eager to add to their collections.

Daughter’s Reaction

I read this book with my 8-year-old daughter and she really enjoyed the pictures that accompanied each of the positive messages in the book. She also thought some of the hashtags that gave some pages of the book a social media-feel was a lot of fun. I personally enjoyed all the positive messages conveyed in a way that was easy for her to understand.

Overview

I thoroughly enjoyed “Royally Fierce” as it is filled with wonderful inspirational quotes to uplift women and young girls. These quotes are inspired by the Disney Princess and the pictures had my daughter and me giggling.

Some of my favorite quotes in the book were:

  • “You are a Force of Nature” with a powerful image of Moana navigating her way through the ocean.
  • “Powerful is better than pretty” with an image of Mulan with a sword over her head, ready for battle.
  • #IWokeUpLikeThis hashtag with a picture of groggy Mulan with crazy hair. It resembles real-life so much!
  • #girlBoss hashtag with a picture of Tiana welcoming us to her restaurant.
  • “You control your story” with a picture of Belle holding onto a book.

I would recommend this book as a gift for the special females in your life, ages 5 and up. It sends a positive message that they can hold dear to their hearts. There are 33 quotes and hashtags that are accompanied by some lovely Princess artwork that would have your smiling as you flip each page.

The book is written by Brittany Rubiano and Erin Zimring, illustrated by Amy Mebberson.
